Like many other niches, music production was not really a Linux forte. But that's changing now and like what happened to the video editing scene, popular music production tools are finding its way into Linux. Though I love listening to all kinds of music, I'm no music production expert. And hence I can't pass informative judgments on any of the applications you're going to read about in the article below. Consider this blogpost as a brief introduction to different music production tools available for Ubuntu and Linux, and not as a review per se. So here we go again. 10 useful music production tools for Ubuntu and Linux.

Bitwig Studio Digital Audio Workstation

Bitwig Studio is a multi-platform (supports Windows, Mac and Linux) music-creation tool for production, performance and DJing.

Bitwig Studio is made by developers that used to work on Ableton Live, a Windows only Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). And like Lightworks for video editing, Bitwig Studio will be a professional grade music production tool with support for Linux platform.

Ardour: Audio mixing software for Linux

Record, edit and mix audio using Ardour. Supports Linux and Mac.

Ardour is open source and is released under GPLv2/GPLv3 license.

Ardour is a great example of commercial free-libre software. Users who download from ardour.org are asked to pay at least $1 for downloading prebuilt binaries of Ardour; those users then have the right to obtain minor updates until the next major release.

Another option is to subscribe by paying $1, $4 or $10 per month. Subscribers can download prebuilt binaries of all updates during the subscription period.

Without paying anything, users can download the full source code for all platforms.

Tracktion is yet another high-profile entrant into the Linux music production scene.

Tracktion is a digital audio workstation for recording and editing audio and MIDI. The project was started with the intention of creating the most easy-to-use music production tool out there. Tracktion is proprietary though.

JACK: Jack Audio Connection Kit

Jack Audio Connection Kit (JACK) is perhaps the most important tool as far as music production on Linux is concerned. It is a professional sound server daemon that provides real-time, low latency connections for both audio and MIDI data between applications that implement its API.

It can connect a number of different applications to an audio device, as well as allowing them to share audio between themselves.

Truecaller

Caller ID system helped only in identifying the numbers but the Truecaller app goes one step ahead - it shows the name and location of the number. Truecaller's service is driven by a large and verified mobile phone community that helps in identification of the caller. It is thus a very useful application for girls (who are often harassed by anti-social elements) and for those who get irked by tele-marketeers (perhaps most of us fall into this category).

With Truecaller, a user can see the name of the caller with the number and also approximate location using 3G or WiFi connection. Apart from identification, Truecaller can also block numbers so as to avoid getting unwanted calls and SMSes.

Another interesting feature in Truecaller app is that one can perform reverse number look up for mobile and even landline numbers (you enter a phone number in the Truecaller and it will show you the owner's name). You can also connect the Truecaller app with social networks like Facebook and Twitter, and in turn let other's find you (you can also locate other person's social network ID by their phone number if they have done the same). Free version of Truecaller comes with advertisements while the paid version doesn't have advertisements.

AppLock

Locking applications, which can reveal your private information or photos to others, is very essential and is a crucial feature that is still missing in Android. But there is an application called AppLock which allows locking applications and the gallery section which contains photos and videos. You can also choose to lock few selected photos and applications. The app also allows locking SMSes.

Majority of the Android smartphone owners find their phones going slow at times and are clueless about the reason. Prerequisites to Root Samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102

Make sure your device Model is GT-S6102..
Device Battery Should be Charged atleast more then 30%.
Before Rooting make sure That you will Backup your Data.

Root Samsung Galaxy Y Duos(GT-S6102).

1 - Download update_for_GT-S6802 file from here.*(Dont not extract downloaded zip file )
2 - Connect your mobile to the PC using USB cable. .
3 - Now copy the downloaded update.zip file in your Sdcard.
4 - Restart your device in recovery mode. Press {Volume Up+Home Key/Menu Key+Power Key} together to boot in your recovery.
5 - Select “apply update from sd-card” option.
6 - Now goto update.zip file with the volume key.
7 - Select it (using pressing home key).
8 - Process will take a while , so wait until it’s completed.
9 - It will show root install successfully and then Restart your phone.
10 - After restart you can see a super user icon at your home screen if root is done successfully

TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc , a leading RF solutions supplier and technology innovator, today announced three new multi-mode, multi-band power amplifier modules (MMPAs) that deliver longer battery life for LTE smartphones while simplifying increasingly complex RF design. The versatile new products, which are already capturing design wins in leading LTE smartphones, feature new envelope tracking technology as well as a new mobile chip interface.

“Building on the success of TriQuint’s highly integrated TRIUMF™ MMPAs, our three newest products add more LTE bands to cover more regional markets, as well as support for power-saving envelope tracking and a versatile new MIPI interface,” said Sean Riley, Vice President of Mobile Products.

Device manufacturers are adopting envelope tracking (ET) in next-generation smartphones to maximize energy efficiency.
